The riff-machines in Fit For An Autopsy have been hard at work since 2008's demo and the following year's self-released Hell On Earth EP that led to their deal with The Red Chord vocalist Guy Kozowyk's Black Market Activities. They've expanded their commanding approach to death metal while soaking in various sub-genres and a touch of groove unique to the New Jersey six-piece.
Their socially conscience themes reverberate in their lyrics, with "Iron Moon" delivering an aggressive shot across the bow of the status quo as it rails against the servitude of the 9-to-5 world while demanding empathy. Other tracks tackle the global refugee crisis, conservationism sustainability and environmental degradation.
With The Sea Of Tragic Beasts, the band grows in confidence and creativity as they establish themselves as the finest act in this space. It's an album that invites even more favorable comparisons to Gojira, but the intention of this group to truly carve their own path appears fully realized.
