CPCS is short for Construction Plant Competence Scheme. It's a card system that serves as evidence of the plant operators' ability levels. It is built on two key components for running the plant, namely professional competence and awareness of health and safety. Operating as a plant operator on National Contractors Federation and Major Contractors Group is a form of requirement or standard, and this is presumably why more than 150,000 people have CPCS cards.
